Privacy Philosophy
SealedFolio was built on a simple principle: your financial data belongs to you, not a cloud provider. Property values, rental income, mortgage details, tenant information, and tax records are stored in a local encrypted vault on your Mac.
There is no hosted SealedFolio portfolio database to breach or monetize. Optional integrations such as Plaid import, map/geocoding, updates, model downloads, sample media, and encrypted backup folder sync make network requests only when you enable or use them.
This is a deliberate trade-off. SealedFolio prioritizes local ownership over always-online collaboration, while still offering optional bank import and encrypted backup-folder sync for users who want those conveniences.
